It was our 2nd annual Halloween Campout. We made a trip to Deception Pass campground the weekend before Halloween this year, joining our friends Tom Tessier and Roger Christianson, his wife Cindy and their two daughters. We were able to get adjoining campsites. Imagine that, the campground wasn't crowded!
There was some of this too... We actually had some very private sites located side by side.

Tom and Marilyn toiling over a witches brew of Chili. I don't know where they got the eye of newt but it sure added some great flavor! I think we were all in agreement that it was the best chili that we had ever eaten. Congratulations to the "Chefs"!

Note: David had "Kia patrol"

Tom's Incredibly Good Chili Recipe

2 large white onions (coarsely chopped)
10 gloves fresh garlic finely chopped
2 cans stewed (Italian style) tomatoes
3 cans pinto beans
2 cans Kidney beans
3 lbs ground beef
3 tablespoons of Ground cumin seed
1 table spoon of Paprika
1 teaspoon of Garlic powder
1 tablespoons of salt
1/3rd cup chili powder
1/3 rd cup sugar
2 tablespoons of Magnolia Fire Oil
4 tablespoons of A1 steak sauce.
1 tablespoon of (Marilyn's) Spaghetti seasoning.

Brown beef with onions and the garlic cloves. Add all ingredients to pot and simmer 2 to 3 hours...  All amounts are approximate. Hmm good..
We did have a rain canopy setup just in case. The weather forecast called for "heavy showers" but it only rained the first night (Friday night) while we were setting the canopy up. After that it was fairly nice all weekend. I think if we wouldn't have setup the canopy it would have rained like crazy though.
Here's Roger and his daughters. Not a lot of campers actually had any candy for these Trick or Treaters though.
But we did have a bag of Butterfingers to pass out to the little Gouels just in case. Also, we didn't want to get "soaped and TP'd"!

Till next year, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
